UPDATE: Any parent/guardian who would like to create a parent account in Schoology to view their student's work and grades, please click HERE. Some of you have already reached out regarding this so if you have already signed up, no need to read any further. For those that have not and are interested, I have your student's specific code that you will need. Please reach out to me and I will send this to you.
Welcome! Here we are at Week 4 of our Virtual Learning (week 6 if you count since March 16th). I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! Before we begin with this week's material, it is very important that any student who has not yet taken the Quiz from Thurs. 4/1 or Thurs. 4/9 schedule a time with me as soon as possible so they can complete it! I am flexible and if you cannot make my 11:30 daily extra help time, we can meet at another time that works for both our schedules. This week we will be reviewing Lessons 1-12 and taking a Quiz on Wednesday. On Thursday we will begin Lesson 13 which begins Topic C from Module 5. I am also linking the parent guide for Module 5 HERE (Note: there is not currently a Topic C only parent guide available so this encompasses all of Module 5). Lesson 13 will introduce students to populations and samples and review what statistical questions are. Lesson 14 will explore topics relating to how we can best select a truly random sample. We will use a famous poem, "Casey at the Bat" to help students see the difference between what happens when they hand select samples versus using a method such as selecting numbers out of a bag. In the next few weeks we will be creating and interpreting many types of graphs, most commonly, dot plots and histograms. I came across this Scholastic article that students may enjoy about managing stress. Celebrities and athletes weighed in on strategies they use and how they keep up their mental well-being. I know this is an important topic for many, especially during these uncertain times. Check it out HERE! Have a great week everyone!
