Students - breathe a sigh of relief, state testing and RTI benchmark testing (for math) is over! I know this is a challenging time of year with many competing priorities, the weather turning nicer and lots and lots of testing, but I am so proud of many students for giving it their all! We still have Eureka curriculum to finish before the end of the year and we will do our best to get through as much as possible in the short time we have left.
Classes 1 and 2 will be finishing up Module 5 and most likely looking at a module test next week. We've continued to explore simulations and what it means to take a random sample. We did this through many hands-on experiments including word length in the poem, "Casey at the Bat", age of pennies, and number of words in children's books. We also talked about random number generators. There are many online and if you like to use Excel, the formula, "=randbetween(x,y)" can be used to generate random numbers between x and y for as many cells as you need. Class 3 is currently finishing up the lesson on Simple Interest and we will be taking a short assessment later in the week. Reminder - field trip forms for Service Learning are due this Friday, 6/1. The date for service learning is Wed 6/6. Some students will be going to Lums Pond State Park in Bear and others will be going to Trap Pond State Park in Laurel. Have a great week! |
