**UPDATE** Here is the answer key for the Mid Mod 3 Study Guide Hello! This week Classes 1 and 2 will be taking their Mid Module 3 test. The study guide is available here if students want to begin work on it over the weekend. I was going to hand them out to all students on Monday. The two topics we have not yet covered are angles and inequalities. Students will be required to use their knowledge of equations and their newly acquired knowledge of angle relationships to set up and solve for the missing angle. The types of angles we will be covering include angles on a line (supplementary), adjacent angles, angles at a point (add up to 360) and vertical angles. We will have two handouts for the INB reviewing these types of angles. Solving inequalities is very similar to solving equations, however instead of an = sign, there will be a < or > sign. For this test, we will not be covering dividing by a negative in an inequality (this will change the sign). Students will also need to know how to plot an inequality on a number line using closed circles or open circles and vectors. We will have one handout for the INB on inequalities. See INB Pictures tab for these handouts. Class 3 is starting out the week finishing up Lesson 8 and will be completing a poster project in class. This will require them to work with 2-3 other students to create a poster given a word problem. On the poster they will write the problem, illustrate the problem, write the equation and show how they checked their work by plugging the answer back into the original equation and verifying that the left side is equal to the right side. They will then be given a chance to present their poster to the rest of the class for a grade. Both their peers and myself will be grading the posters and presentations. All three classes have been working on completing these pennant banners to display in the classroom. As students are able to solve equations on their own, they complete one of these and get to hang it on the wall. I've covered up the names for this post, but their names are displayed on them for all to see in the classroom. Students should feel proud if they have already completed one and if they haven't done so yet, that is a great goal for them to try and reach this week! (Yellow = Class 1, Pink = Class 2, Blue = Class 3) Update on progress reports: The ending date for interim grades is this Wednesday, 1/24. Grades are due 1/29 and progress reports will go home on Thurs 2/1. Have a great week! |
