Greetings! This week marks the start of the 3rd trimester and we will kick it off by finishing our End of Module 4 test. We will be starting Module 5 this week which covers Statistics and Probability with discussion of Chance Experiments, Outcomes and creation of Tree Diagrams. We will be using a lot of probability models such a dice, spinners and cards to simulate various experiments and understanding the difference between equally likely, impossible and certain outcomes. This week we will be celebrating Pi Day on Friday, March 13 (actual Pi Day is Saturday, 3/14). Click here for more information on Pi. This will be a fun day with many events such as a Scavenger Hunt, Pi-inspired haikus (yes, ELA is involved as well!) and a Pi Bee. Students can prepare for the Pi Bee by studying the digits of pi and memorizing as many as possible. There will be prizes for the winners in each class as well as the grand prize winner! Click here for a fun link to help you practice! This week's Quizizz code is 969812. It is a review of mixtures from Module 4. Don't forget to continue to practice the Smarter Balanced questions at home. We will be testing May 1st - 3rd (Computer Adaptive Test portion) and May 10th, 13th and 14th (Performance Task portion, also on computer). Practicing just one or two questions a day will make a big difference when test time comes. We will also be practicing in class, but since our time is limited, be sure to check out the practice website at home as well. Click here for links to the practice test and sample questions as well as the calculator 7th graders will be using (this is different from what students used in 6th grade). The scoring guide (answer key) is also found here. This Friday is a N.U.T. Day and we also have report cards going home with students on Thursday. Coming up.... Thurs. 3/19 - National Jr. Honor Society Induction Ceremony 5 pm Fri 3/20 - N.U.T. Day Fri 3/20 - Honor Roll Assembly 10:50 (grades 6 - 8) Have a great week!
