*UPDATE* Click HERE for Mid Module 2 Study Guide Answer Key.
This week will be a very short week as we only have school on Monday and Tuesday! Students in classes 1 & 2 will be taking the mid Module 2 test on Tuesday, while students in class 3 will be preparing for this test after Thanksgiving break. Mid Module 2 topics that are key for students to understand include adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing rational numbers, how additive inverses (opposites) add to equal zero, long division, finding distance (always positive) as well as the "change in" a scenario. For example, if the temperature is 10 degrees and then drops to -5 degrees, understanding that the "change in" temperature is -15 degrees. The negative indicates that it is decreasing, or falling. We have also played the Integer Card Game quite a few times in class which has helped students to understand how "picking up" or "drawing" a negative card decreases your score and "putting down" or "discarding" a negative card increases your score. These scenarios can be related to adding a negative (score goes down) and subtracting a negative (score goes up). The end of the first trimester is December 4th. There are a handful of students in classes 2 and 3 that owe quizzes. I have let those students know what they are missing. Please check grades in the Home Access Center to see whether or not your student is missing work in order to avoid an incomplete! Students can come during workroom (recess), elective (if they have their teacher's permission) or after school on Tuesday if they need to work on these assessments. Have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving! |
