This week we will be taking our second module assessment (Lessons 11 - 18) on Tuesday or Wednesday. If students did not receive the study guide in class on Fri. 10/20, you can click here, and it is also posted under the Links tab. The study guide is very similar to the test. If students spend time working through the questions on the study guide and then come to class prepared with any questions, they should be well prepared for the test. Students will also be allowed an index card and calculator during the test. Please ensure the index card is filled out with useful information prior to test day.
We will begin Module 2 this week which will be a discussion of Rational Numbers. Many students are eager to begin this new module as am I! Module 2 begins with introducing students to the concept of additive inverse (opposite numbers that combine to equal zero) and then proceeds to cover addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of integers (positive and negative numbers). This topic also has a lot of real-world applications and opportunities for some fun, hands-on learning. We will also be incorporating some fluency exercises into this module (how many can you get correct in a minute and how many can you improve by in Round 2 vs Round 1). |
