Another week has flown by and here we are in week four of school! Last week classes completed posters demonstrating proportional and non-proportional relationships both in tables and in graphs. This was a fun hands-on activity that helped students show what they have learned in the last few lessons. This week we will finish up through Lesson 10 and hopefully get to the first assessment for Mid-Module 1. Some classes have had a few nights of homework for additional practice. Again, the homework is designed to reinforce concepts already covered in class. If your student is really struggling with the homework, just have them do their best and we can go over any specific questions the next day. Homework is graded for completion only (must show all work), not for accuracy. I don't want any student struggling at home for an extended time if they do not understand a topic. This can be very frustrating for all involved! . Practice worksheets were offered to any students needing extra practice at the end of last week. Some students finished these in class, while others were given the option of taking these home over the weekend (9/16-9/17). For additional support, there is also a great video that encompasses what we've been talking about in class the last few weeks. Click here for the video. I am trying out a new app called Remind. This app allows me to send the students reminders via text messages about homework, upcoming assignments and even what to bring to class the next day. You are more than welcome to sign up as well. To sign up, please click on the appropriate class for your child; Class 1, Class 2 or Class 3. Class 1 meets from 9:05-10:40, Class 2 meets from 10:40-12:15 and Class 3 meets from 12:15-1:00 and 1:50-2:40. Check out www.remind.com if you have any additional questions about this program. Lastly, please mark your calendars for our Open House on Saturday, Sept 30th from 9 am - 12 pm. Hope to see you there! |
