Welcome back! I'm excited to kick off a new school year and look forward to partnering with you to ensure success in math this year! It was nice meeting so many of you during Meet & Greet on Thursday night. For those who were not able to attend, here is some important information that you will need.
1. There are 3 important papers that will need to be filled out and returned to school: 1) Yellow emergency card, 2) Signature page of student handbook (please note, there are no paper copies of the handbook this year, you will need to go online to review policies/procedures) and 3) Student information sheet for 7th grade teachers (click HERE for link if you need it). 2. PLEASE sign up for Remind (see side bar) or pdf in the Links tab. Please note that if your student has math as their first academic class of the day (8-9 and 9:50-10:10), they are in "Class 1". If they have math from 10:15-11:30, they are in "Class 2". If they have math from 12:20-1 and 2-2:40, they are in "Class 3". I cannot stress how important signing up for Remind will be in order to stay on top of things. I use it for homework reminders, upcoming assessments and special events. 3. Please check out my "About" tab for a little bit about me and I've also included the handout provided at Meet & Greet HERE. In class this week we will spend time learning our new schedules (2 specials/day and new times for classes and lunch/recess) as well as procedures. We will also be benchmark testing using Moby Max on Wed. and taking our State of DE Pre-Test. In between all the back-to-school activities I always incorporate as much math instruction as I can. It's never to early to start as we have a lot to cover this year! Math class will look a bit different this year as we will no longer have paper workbooks for most students, but electronic access on Schoology. Our class should be getting a set of Chrome Books that will be dedicated for math to assist with this access. As such, students will need an additional composition notebook for working out problems from the online workbook. The other composition notebook is used as an interactive notebook that students will be adding handouts/foldables to and will be used for monthly notebook quizzes. ATTENTION HOMEROOM STUDENTS: You will need a plastic 2-pocket folder for Thursday folder papers. I know that was a lot of information, but thank you for reading and please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!
