Greetings! February is finally here and we are kicking it off with a SNOW DAY! What fun!
Progress reports were mailed out last week (Friday) so you should be receiving them in the mail shortly (if you haven't already). Beginning on Tuesday in math class, we will pick back up in Module 1 with a discussion of proportional relationships in tables. Last week we discussed what these relationships looked like in tables as we calculated the constant of proportionality, k. This constant could be found by dividing the y values by the corresponding x values. This week we will learn how to tell which value the x value is (instead of just assuming it is the first one in the table) by learning about independent and dependent variables. Changing the independent variable, x causes a change in the dependent variable, y. Time and weight are typically independent variables and items such as cost or distance are typically the dependent variables. Next week we will be looking at our next notebook quiz (#4 this year). Please make sure your notes are up-to-date. Keeping your INB up-to-date will not only help you with the quizzes but will also provide an excellent resource as we cover lessons throughout the year. Upcoming: Mon 2/8 - No School for students (Teacher PD Day) Mon 2/15 - No School (President's Day) Have a great week!
