**UPDATE** Here is a link for the video we watched in class this week. It explains 3 different methods for solving proportions.
Welcome to our first full week of 2019! Math League has their 3rd meet of the school year on Monday at Smyrna Middle. On Tuesday, 7th and 8th grades will be going on a field trip to the Dover Skating Center. In math class, we will be covering Lessons 12-15 and we will most likely have a quiz later in the week. Students learned more about unit rates last week and how this represents the amount per one. We studied various real-world scenarios involving unit rates including miles per gallon, cost per pound and cups of flour per dozen cupcakes, just to name a few. Understanding proportions, dividing fractions and being able to interpret graphs will continue to be important concepts. Late this week we will most likely get into discussions of scale drawings and potentially scale factor. I have started after school help hours again on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4:30. This schedule will continue until the next cycle of tutoring begins. This week's Quizizz topic is Proportions & Unit Rates. The quiz is due by Thursday night and the code is 263374. Here is the New Year's Review Booklet Answer Key from last week if students would like to check their answers. Don't forget, next week is a 4 day week for students as Friday, Jan 18 is a PD Day for teachers. It will also be Spirit Week! Stay tuned for additional details! Have a great week!
